My friend and I picked up the new AP for Starfinder along with the core rules, but it's confusing. We've never run Adventure Paths before; everything we do is either homebrew or individual scenarios.
So without further ado, here are our questions:
How long does it take and why? Playing the adventure as written looks like it would only take a few sessions and what research I've done only returns the supremely unhelpful "it depends on your party" answer, which of course it does. But there's no way an adventure that takes only a few months for some people can take five years for others based solely on how the party approaches the finite number of scripted challenges. There must be other variables.
If an AP says it's compatible with Society play, how does that work? We looked through the book and even though it said the characters should be Level 3 by the end, there didn't seem to be enough content for the typical 1 Scenario = 1 XP and 3 XP = 1 Level advancement that Society uses.
Once your character starts playing an AP, can they play in other SFS scenarios? Similarly, can characters who've played other SFS scenarios join an AP that's already in progress?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References https://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=175816
